Hello. My name is Leah Kim and I am an experienced creative director based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Most recently, I was a design leader at Compass, a luxury real estate tech startup founded by Robert Reffkin and Ori Allon. I oversaw creative in Northern California and led the Brand Studio in San Francisco HQ.
I grew up in Los Angeles, and started my career in New York. Living in cities immersed in rich cultural diversity had a profound influence in shaping my outlook on creativity and design. Initially, it fueled my passion for traveling to new places both near and far. And over time, these learnings, human connections and shared experiences deepened my appreciation for the art of storytelling. This is showcased in my commercial work where I look to create engaging content for audiences and celebrate a brand’s DNA.
I received my BFA with Honors and was awarded full scholarship to attend the its post-graduate "Ninth Term Honors" at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. After graduating, I moved to New York City where I began my career working at award winning multidisciplinary design agencies. I have since worked alongside world-class brands in beauty, fashion, tech and hospitality.
While in New York where I worked for twelve years, I co-founded Half & Half Studio, a boutique design consultancy that focused on integrated branding across various media for independent and creative clients. I also served as an adjunct professor at the NY School of Visual Arts where I taught Digital Media Design in the undergraduate Graphic Design and Advertising Department. I have also served as a Co-chairperson of the AIGA Mentoring Program in New York.
When I am not designing, I like to indulge myself by exploring and eating my through new destinations with my loved ones.
